Outside my window... Sunny, clear, and 63 degrees.

I am thinking... Of my Princess Butterfly.  She's about to take her Civil Air Patrol Orientation Flight.  I didn't go with her to watch.  I didn't want my anxiety to rub off.  I have flown hundreds and hundreds of air miles, as a child and as an Air Force wife.  She, on the other hand, has never been in a plan before.  Even their brochure says, "Nervous moms will tell you that safety is their first concern, and rightly so."  As I am typing this, I just got a call from the pilot who is taking her up.  He had a very pilot-y voice.  I'm good with that, and of course, I have already been on my knees about this.

I am thankful... For our worship community.  We had a great service yesterday.  Everyone is involved in one capacity or another.  I am thankful for each and every one of them.  I am also thankful that my pay period ended well.  I wasn't stressed out trying to do all in one way what I should have been doing during the week.  Also, since volleyball season is over, my gas tank is still relatively full.

I am wearing... Sweatshirt and sweatpants.

I am creating... It got down to 40 something last night.  I decided to go ahead and cover the garden.  I use clear plastic containers that were once used for grocery store cake box lids, or the containers pre-cut salads came in.  Then I cover those with a cheap dollar store plastic tablecloth.  This morning they had become little greenhouses with condensation in them.  I watered with a mixture of fish emulsion (that stuff smells rank!).  I am planning to get another, rectangular garden bed started, little by little with each paycheck.  That way I can start my spring planting on time.

I am going... To stay home today.  Woot!

I am reading... The Face of a Stranger by Anne Perry and Fierce Women:  The Power of a Soft Warrior by Kimberly Wagner.  Fierce Women is starting to get really good.  There's meat in it.

I am looking forward to... Seeing how Yehovah is going to use our community to bless an area of town that we are being led to minister in.

One of my favorite things... Watching Monk at the end of the day with my kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week...  I think this is going to be a busy one with Venture, Girl Scouts, karate, co-op classes, CAP, Boy Scout advancement, guitar lessons, and American Heritage Girls, men's and women's Bible studies.

From the learning rooms... I have not caught up on putting my 2nd quarter lesson plans on the computer.  I need to work on that today.
Sophomore:
Bible:  He has spent a month memorizing Scripture on leading the family in worship.  I have seen desire to help choose worship songs and his fluency in his ability to expound upon his memory verses increase.  Yes, there are tears in my eyes as I type this.
English:   The goal is three days a week SAT Prep English, two days a week Lightning Lit.  Prayerfully, that goal will be accomplished this week.
Math:   Again, the goal is two days of SAT Prep Math a week, three days of geometry.
State History:   He is working out of a discarded public school text book and narrating what he has learned.  Since he enjoys geography, this is going well, I think.
Chemistry:   There is always a difference when he does not take the test at home before the classroom quiz.  Not that he scores bad, just not as well.

Eighth grader:
Bible:  This past month, her memory verses were dealing with being a godly woman, in general.  I have seen in her greater effort to mix the Word with faith and apply Scripture to daily life, particularly in the areas of being peaceable and in modesty and personal appearance.  This coming month, the memory verses will all come from the chapter in Polished Cornerstones on being a Reliable Woman.
English:   We are wrapping up a unit on "A Bride Comes to Yellow Sky" and getting ready to start a unit on Helen Keller.
Math:   At this point, she is just working through the supplemental lessons in Saxon 76 so she can FINALLY move into Algebra 1/2.  I will DEFINITELY be purchasing a D.I.V.E. CD because she does infinitely better after having a video lesson.
History:   She is preparing to take the test on the Making of the Thirteen Colonies.  She has not been bringing her history with her to the library on Thursdays.  Can't allow that to continue.
Physical science:  Same as her brother.  She's got to take the chapter test at home first before she takes it in class.
Health:  Also getting ready to take a test.  We need to move faster in history and health because by the time the tests roll around, I am afraid she will forget the material.

We are also going to be working on some Home Ec. as well in the coming week.

Pondering these words... Hebrews 12:14 starts out, "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord." There seems to be two camps of people, those who pursue holiness, but not peace with other people, then there are those who seek peace with people at the expense of holiness. But there is the word AND in this verse. We've got to pursue both or we can forget about seeing Him...

From the kitchen... Friend Hubby made SO many butter beans for Shabbat yesterday that I had to put the leftovers in two gallon size bags and freeze them so I don't have to get sick of eating them.  LOL.  I have sandwich bread rising in the toaster oven.  I've got to look and see what the plan will need to be for the rest of the week.

Around the house... My greatest hope is to maintain my goal of getting my work done as quickly as possible, and then doing some much needed housecleaning.

One of my favorite things... Pastor Marvin Winans' Throwback Medley
